Case Study
1. Background
Mr. Shafiullah Temori is the son of Hayatullah Temori and the second child in his family. His original place of residence is Markazi Baghlan District, Baghlan Province. He currently lives in Kabul City, District 12, in the Arzan Qeemat area near Mahbas Square.
His family’s economic situation was weak and at a very low level, and after the accident occurred, their living conditions became even more difficult.
2. Incident Description
In 2017, a young boy named Shafiullah Temori left his home one morning like any other child. Within moments, his life changed forever.
A trailer truck struck him while crossing the road. The accident destroyed both of his legs. One leg was amputated. The other was severely damaged. His childhood, once filled with simple dreams, was suddenly replaced with hospital rooms, surgeries, and unbearable pain.
At that time, his family was already living in poverty. They had no financial means to support expensive medical treatment. The future seemed dark and uncertain.
But hope did not disappear.
Through the support of compassionate individuals and the KBU organization, Shafiullah received life-saving treatment in Afghanistan and later in Germany. He endured 14 months of rehabilitation. He learned to walk again with prosthetics. He fought through physical pain and emotional trauma.
And he did not give up.
He returned to school.
He learned a new language.
He graduated with first rank.
Today, he dreams of going to university.
Shafiullah does not want pity.
He wants opportunity.
He wants dignity.
He wants a future.

3. Initial Medical Intervention:
Shafiullah was hospitalized for three months at Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital (Pediatric Health Hospital). After this period, Dr. Sharif referred him to the KBU organization.
The KBU Organization is still cooperating with Shafiullah. It is also worth mentioning that a few days ago, Shafiullah was referred by this Organization to the 400-Bed Hospital for the fabrication of prosthetic legs. Fortunately, the leadership of the 400-Bed Hospital provided excellent cooperation, registered Shafiullah in the hospital’s database, and stated that for the rest of his life, if he faces any problems related to his prosthetic legs, the hospital will continue to provide him with the necessary support and assistance.
“Children Need Us (KBU).”
4. International Treatment Phase
After completing the official documentation process, he was sent to Germany in the same year for comprehensive medical treatment.
Shafiullah was admitted to Bundeswehrzentralkrankenhaus Koblenz Hospital, where he remained under medical care and rehabilitation programs for 14 months.
In Germany, a host family under the supervision of Mr. Akif Arslan took care of him. This support continued not only during his treatment but also for six years after his return to Afghanistan.
5. Reintegration & Educational Progress
Shafiullah returned to Afghanistan in 2019 and remained under the support and supervision of the KBU organization until 2025.
During this period:
He graduated from school with first rank and is now making efforts to enrol in university for higher education.
6. Challenges & Resilience Analysis
Challenge | Impact | Coping Strategy |
Physical disability | Loss of both legs | Long-term treatment and rehabilitation |
Financial difficulties | Inability to cover expenses | Support from charitable organizations |
Psychological pressure | Shock and major life changes | Family support and education |
Social reintegration | Need for social adaptation | Education and skill development |
7. Conclusion
Although Shafiullah lost both of his legs, his determination, hope, and motivation for life remain strong. He strives not to be a burden on his family in the future, but rather to become a helpful and successful member of his family and society.
This case study demonstrates that:
Shafiullah Temori is a clear example of resilience, hope, and the pursuit of a better life.
One Step for Hope, One Future for Shafiullah

However, to continue his education and cover the costs of prosthetics and academic expenses, he still needs support.
